About the project

 This project arises in the context of PASMO (Plataforma Aberta para o desenvolvimento e experimentação de Soluções para a Mobilidade) from the need to develop platforms to support Intelligent Transport Systems and Vehicle Communications.

 The emergence and evolution of cryptocurrencies and transactions in DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology or distributed registration p.e Blockchain) also determinants for the future of digital transactions

 It arises from the desire to provide safer, more efficient, reliable, intelligent and automatic services with regard to mobility and what comes from it.

 The implemented service allows the customer to travel on the designated highways knowing that the payment of the respective tolls will be made automatically using the smartphone.

 The system consists of the mobile application that connects to the RSU (or Road Side Unit, on the side) and makes the respective payment using the iota cryptocurrency; and the web application that works as administrator's dashboard.

 This project was developed in the scope of Informatics Engineering Project, Telematics and Computers Engineering, University of Aveiro in partnership with Telecomunications Institute.
